Theremin ~ Modular synthesizer ~ Haken Continuum ~ Crazy stuff…
By the start of 2019, the Theremin centennial, me and my fellow musicians have produced four CDs: three featuring SkulpturenSingen and one with the trio Mandel-Krennerich-Levine. And this year promises to be even more productive!
In 2015 we invited the saxophone player Andreas Krennerich for an experimental recording session. We loved the collaboration so much that we decided to form a trio. This CD is our first statement.
Anna designed the window of a children’s book shop in Altona and we recorded some crazy tunes, loosely based on German children’s songs to be played over speakers hung outside. And what do you know? The children LOVED it 🙂 Check out the music on Bandcamp.
…in 2010. While the Theremin has crossed my path before, this time I got involved, did some research and found an informative TED-video with Pamelia Kurstin, then clips featuring Clara Rockmore. am fascinated and purchase an instrument.

The sculpture artist and painter Anna Mandel rings me up regarding the possibility of my recording her singing her sculptures. When she hears about my exploring the Theremin she asks me to bring it along, which leads to our ensemble’s first practice session at the church Maria Magdalenen. And–like an auditory time capsule–you can listen to the results of our very first experiments on BANDCAMP.
