I am very excited to have been invited to present a lecture / play a solo set at Goethe-Institut China in Beijing on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 16:00 / 4pm.

Goethe-Institut China is located at Originality Square, 798 Art Zone, No. 2 Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100015.

I will be talking about the conflict between the New German School, represented by Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner vs. the conservatives: Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

Then it is on to the discoveries of Hermann von Helmholtz and important developments by German inventors, magnetic tape, the Trautonium, ribbon controllers and Eurorack.

How do we get from Stockhausen’s Intuitive Music to Echtzeitmusik, and from there on to German Electromantics…

In the live set I will be talking about and performing on the Haken Audio Continuum Fingerboard as well as Theremin plus modular synth, Landscape Stereo Field and STEIM Cracklebox.
