Kerstin Petersen (1968*) was born in Rhineland-Palatinate, studied church music in Herford, early music in Bremen, concert organ in Heidelberg, and is now an internationally sought-after performer.
She has received concert invitations from TONALi, St. Nikolai Church in Hamburg, the Frequenz_ Festival, the Mercatorhalle Philharmonic in Duisburg, St. Martin’s Church in Kassel, and the Gothenburg Organ Academy, among others. She recently gave world premieres at the Orgelpark Amsterdam, the Dresden Frauenkirche, the Archdiocese of Paderborn, and the Musik 21 Festival. A composition scholarship from the state of Schleswig-Holstein enabled her to compose and premiere her organ work “MY LADY” in 2024, based on the altarpiece of St. Mary with the Unicorn Hunt (1506) in Lübeck Cathedral.
Since 2025, she has directed the concert series “Auf der Zinne^ – neuer Klang!” (On the Battlements – New Sound) in Hamburg, which is dedicated to unknown chamber music for pipe organ. Her CD SiGNALE (2025, Genuin) was nominated for the „Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik“ (German Record Critics’ Award). Together with Ada Namani (gong) and Lenka Zupkova (violin), she was awarded the RESONANZEN Concept Prize by VISION KIRCHENMUSIK and the Hanns Lilje Foundation in 2025.
